Bellator 220 Salaries: MacDonald ($200K), Davis ($160K), Fitch ($140K) Top Payroll

Rory MacDonald and Jon Fitch didn’t have a satisfying conclusion to their headlining bout at Bellator 220, but both were among the top earners at Saturday’s event.

MacDonald and Fitch battled to a majority draw at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., which allowed the reigning welterweight champion to advance to the semifinals of the promotion’s 170-pound grand prix. MacDonald took home an event high $200,000 for his work, while Fitch garnered $140,000. The California State Athletic Commission released salaries from the event to MMAjunkie.com.

Former light heavyweight king Phil Davis received the card’s second-largest payday for his third-round stoppage of Liam McGeary in their rematch. Davis earned $160,000, while McGeary received $75,000. Benson Henderson was the only other fighter to earn six-figures, as he took home $100,000 for a split verdict against Adam Piccolotti ($22,000).

Note: The disclosed purses reported by state athletic commissions do not include any performance-based or discretionary bonuses that may be awarded to a fighter by the promotion. Additionally, the reported figures do not reflect any deductions made by the commission for taxes, insurance, etc., and do not include any sponsorship money that a fighter may acquire for their performance.
