Colby Covington continues to stir the proverbial pot when it comes to fellow fighters and didn't take long to snap back at UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones for expressing disappointment that Robbie Lawler didn't beat him.
Covington met Lawler in the main event of UFC on ESPN 5 and applied his patented pressure game throughout the fight to pick up a dominant unanimous decision..
Robbie just let the whole world down— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) August 3, 2019
At the conclusion of the fight, Jones tweeted that “Robbie just let the whole world down,” which lit a fire under Covington, who responded in an interview with MMAFighting.com's Damon Martin, defending Lawler while taking aim at Jones’ controversial past.
“Jon Jones, he’s out there talking s*it about Robbie Lawler letting the world down? Jon Jones knows first hand about letting the whole world down,” Covington stated. “Don’t talk about Robbie Lawler, Jon Jones. Robbie Lawler’s not wrecking a Bentley with hookers in the back of his car. Robbie Lawler’s not hitting a pregnant lady and then fleeing the scene with all his drugs in the car. Robbie Lawler’s a legend, he’s a family man, he’s a first ballot Hall of Famer.
“So how dare Jon Jones talk about him when he’s the biggest piece of s*it in all of sports.”
