Corey Anderson, Jon Jones Exchange Words at Autograph Session in New Jersey

Corey Anderson appears to be doing his best to lay the foundation for a future fight with reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

On Saturday, Anderson and his team showed up at an autograph session with Jones for iPlay America in Freehold, N.J. The two fighters briefly exchanged words, but no physical altercation ensued. Footage of the incident was captured in a brief video.

“I’m just trying to have a conversation, that’s all,” Anderson tells Jones.

In his response, an annoyed Jones seems to acknowledge that a future matchup with “The Ultimate Fighter 19” winner could be imminent.

“That’s good,” Jones says. “One thing I want to let you know, bro: If you wanna fight, we’re gonna fight. But coming over here and saying anything stupid to me is not a good idea.”

Anderson, who trains under Ricardo Almeida in New Jersey, has been vocal on social media in recent weeks about a potential showdown with “Bones.” Anderson took to Twitter on Saturday to react to the incident.

Anderson is currently on a three-bout winning streak after besting Patrick Cummins, Glover Teixeira and Ilir Latifi in succession. Jones is coming off a decision win against Thiago Santos in the UFC 239 main event and has targeted December for his Octagon return. However, “Bones” does face a pending battery charge for an alleged incident that occurred in an Albuquerque, N.M., strip club.
