Dustin Poirier Apologizes for Jumping the Gun on Nate Diaz’s Drug Test
The ordering process for Ultimate Fighting Championship
pay-per-views has changed: UFC 244 is only available on ESPN+ in the
U.S.
Dustin Poirier has apologized for jumping the gun in relation to potential news that Nate Diaz had failed his drug test and was out of this weekend’s UFC 244, but says he still wants to fight the younger Diaz brother.
Poirier and Diaz were scheduled to fight at UFC 230, but “The
Diamond” suffered an injury to his hip and was forced to
withdraw.
After the announcement that the fight was cancelled due to his injury, Poirier accused Diaz of causing issues behind-the-scenes and claimed he had already pulled out of the fight before his own injury.
The former 155-pound interim champ recently took aim at Diaz for his failed drug test ahead of UFC 244. The 30-year-old later apologised and said he still wants a fight with Diaz sometime in the future.
Diaz has been cleared by the New York State Athletic Commission to fight Jorge Masvidal on Saturday night at UFC 244 for the much-anticipated BMF belt, which will be presented to the winner by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

He wanted it he just couldn't come to terms with ufc. They offered us the main event at msg but he would only agree if it was on his terms. I was tired of playing games with the guy and that's when i decided to address a injury I had been dealing with. Now you all know#facts https://t.co/OU50fYP0pB

And thats the whole truth with me and Nate situation ....also I jumped the gun when news came out that he failed a test. He's always been a guy who pushed for clean eating and clean sport. I shouldn't have. Doesn't change the fact that I still want to beat his ass
