Dustin Poirier Apologizes for Jumping the Gun on Nate Diaz’s Drug Test

The ordering process for Ultimate Fighting Championship pay-per-views has changed: UFC 244 is only available on ESPN+ in the U.S.

Dustin Poirier has apologized for jumping the gun in relation to potential news that Nate Diaz had failed his drug test and was out of this weekend’s UFC 244, but says he still wants to fight the younger Diaz brother.

Poirier and Diaz were scheduled to fight at UFC 230, but “The Diamond” suffered an injury to his hip and was forced to withdraw.

After the announcement that the fight was cancelled due to his injury, Poirier accused Diaz of causing issues behind-the-scenes and claimed he had already pulled out of the fight before his own injury.

The former 155-pound interim champ recently took aim at Diaz for his failed drug test ahead of UFC 244. The 30-year-old later apologised and said he still wants a fight with Diaz sometime in the future.

Diaz has been cleared by the New York State Athletic Commission to fight Jorge Masvidal on Saturday night at UFC 244 for the much-anticipated BMF belt, which will be presented to the winner by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Advertisement
