Longtime middleweight contender Ronaldo Souza will make the move to 205 pounds, where he will square off against Jan Blachowicz in the UFC Fight Night 164 main event.
UFC president Dana White confirmed the booking to ESPN. UFC Fight Night 164 takes place at Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Nov. 16 and airs on ESPN+.
A former Strikeforce middleweight champion, “Jacare” has alternated wins and losses of the course of his last six UFC appearances. Most recently, he dropped a five-round verdict in an upset loss to Jack Hermansson at UFC Fight Night 150 on April 27.
Blachowicz recently lobbied for a title shot against Jon Jones, but that did not come to fruition. Nonetheless, the 36-year-old Pole has won five of his last six UFC contests at 205 pounds. In his last appearance, he welcomed Luke Rockhold to the division with a second-round knockout at UFC 239.
