Kayla Harrison Signs Long-Term Deal With PFL

The Professional Fighters League has locked down Kayla Harrison for a multi-year deal.

ESPN announced the contract extension of Harrison (5-0) on Thursday, and she has since put out a short video statement. The terms of the deal have not been released, other than that the organization has signed the Olympic gold medalist for multiple years. According to her manager Ali Abdelaziz, Harrison will be earning "seven figures per year" regardless of if she wins the $1 million prize.

In her video announcement, Harrison stated, "I'm super excited to be signing a multi-fight deal with the PFL, you know, this has been my home from the beginning in MMA. Because of them, I've been able to come so far, the women's MMA platform has grown tremendously, they've made it completely equal for men and women. We all have the opportunity to fight for a million dollars, and not only that but I'm going to become one of if not the highest paid female [fighters] in MMA. So, I'm super happy to be part of 'Team PFL,' I wouldn't want to be anywhere else, and this is only the beginning."

Throughout her relatively young career, Harrison has won all five of her bouts inside the PFL cage, including four by stoppage. She will be taking on Bobbi Jo Dalziel in a three-round bout at PFL 7 2019 on Friday, where if victorious, she will advance to the finals. Harrison was originally set to face Genah Fabian, but she was reportedly replaced by Dalziel after she was unable to make the weight requirement. The tournament finals, like last year, will take place on Dec. 31 at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden.
