Legacy FC 24 Update: Holly Holm Meets Erica Paes, Only Woman to Beat Cristiane ‘Cyborg’

Erica Paes, the only woman to defeat Cristiane Justino, will square off against former boxing champion Holly Holm at Legacy Fighting Championship 24.

LFC promoter Mick Maynard today informed Sherdog.com of the booking, which takes place Oct. 11 at Allen Event Center in the Dallas suburb of Allen, Texas. The event is headlined by a bantamweight showdown between UFC veteran Damacio Page and Ryan Benoit.

Paes defeated “Cyborg” more than eight years ago in a bout that marked both fighters’ professional debut. Since that win, Paes has gone 1-2, suffering a knockout loss to close out 2005 and then leaving MMA for more than seven years. The Brazilian returned to competition with a victory this past April but was outpointed in her most recent appearance, dropping a unanimous decision to Bethe Correia this past June at Jungle Fight 54.

Holm retired from boxing earlier this year in order to focus full time on MMA. “The Preacher’s Daughter” cruised to a third-round technical knockout over Katie Merrill under the Bellator banner back in February and then finished Allanna Jones with a second-round head kick in her July 19 LFC debut. Holm, 31, has been perfect in her pro career thus far, posting four victories with four knockouts to her credit.
