A lightweight duel between Alonzo Martinez and Aaron Derrow has been added to Titan Fighting Championships 16, which goes down Jan. 28 at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan.

The promotion made the matchup official on Tuesday morning via press release. The event will be headlined by a heavyweight tilt pitting “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 10 alum Abe Wagner against former two-time UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia and will air live in North America on HDNet.

Additionally, the card will feature a welterweight scrap between UFC veteran Jason High and former Strikeforce talent Rudy Bears, as well as a 185-pound contest featuring Drew McFedries taking on Gary Tapasua.

Hailing from Omaha, Neb., Martinez took part in Bellator Fighting Championships’ Season 1 lightweight tournament, where he was defeated by finalist Toby Imada in the opening round. Since then, “Zo Diddy” has won five of six, though he enters his bout with Derrow on the heels of a September submission loss to Lloyd Woodard.

Also a product of the Midwest, Derrow comes to Memorial Hall from nearby Kansas City, Mo. Though Derrow has far less experience than his opponent, he comes off back-to-back victories and has finished three of his four victims since beginning his career in 2009.

“The fight between Aaron and Alonzo could end up stealing the show on January 28 because they are very similar stylistically,” said Titan Fighting CEO Joe Kelly in the press release. “Both Aaron and Alonzo are well-rounded, but they aren’t afraid to mix it up on their feet. This is a fight that people will need to pay close attention to because the winner of this bout will put himself in a position for a bigger opportunity.”
