Mike Perry underwent a successful surgery to repair a broken nose suffered in a loss to Vicente Luque at UFC Uruguay, according to multiple reports.
Luque shattered Perry’s nose with a flying knee in the third frame. Later in the round, blood poured from Perry’s face as his opponent applied the squeeze on a guillotine choke. Nonetheless, Perry survived until the final horn and lost a closely-contested split decision.
After the bout, pictures of Perry’s disfigured nose went viral.
“Platinum” underwent an hour-long procedure in Uruguay on Sunday and is expected to remain in the country until Monday. The recovery period is expected to be six months for the Florida native. Perry received a $50,000 “Fight of the Night” bonus for his efforts but fell to 6-5 within the Las Vegas-based promotion.
