ONE Fight Night 18 ‘Gasanov vs. Oh’ Play-by-Play & Results

145: Mark Abelardo vs. Ibragim Dauev

Round 1

Herb Dean will oversee the night's first fight. The two exchange in the center before Dauev goes for a takedown attempt. They get tangled against the rope temporarily, but Abelardo gives up his back while standing. Dauev jumps and is looking for a rear-naked choke. Abelardo is defending well but is eating elbows and punches to the back and head. This round is all Dauev so far as it hits its halfway mark. With 90 seconds left, Abelardo is trying to turn in and finally gets Dauev back to his feet. Dauev still has a grip and is now looking for a takedown while kneeing his opponent's leg. Abelardo takes a knee with 30 seconds left before getting back up. The round ends with the two men getting broken up and Dauev landing a jumping knee and then missing a spinning back fist. It'd be 10-9 Dauev if the fights were scored under the 10-point must system rather than as a whole.

Round 2

Abelardo was cut by the jumping knee. Dauev starts the round with a successful takedown attempt. Abelardo gets back to his feet without taking much damage. However, Dauev locks in another body lock and gets the fight to the floor again. Abelardo is able to stand and starts landing some solid elbows that hurt Dauev, who is desperately looking for a takedown. Abelardo is picked up and put on the floor again. However, Dauev isn't able to do much on the ground. Abelardo gets back up and starts landing a series of elbows while Dauev looks for yet another double-leg takedown. Dauev puts his opponent on the floor with less than a minute left. Abelardo is back up seconds later, but Dauev has a body lock and is kneeing. The round ends in a stalemate. 10-9 Abelardo, whose elbows did more damage.

Round 3

The round starts as the last one ends with Dauev looking for a takedown. Abelardo gives up another takedown. Abelardo starts landing elbows while on the bottom. The fight is stood up after Dauev grabs the ropes. They're restarted on the feet, but Dauev just clinches again, and now they're up against the rope. Not much excitement here. Abelardo lands more elbows, and the fighters are separated. Dauev goes for another double-leg takedown. Abelardo is defending and doing occasional damage, while Dauev fails to get a takedown. Abelardo sneaks in a nice knee. They're separated again with less than a minute left. Abelardo lands a nice combination of punches before Dauev goes for another double-leg takedown. Dauev picks up his foe and takes his back. Dauev lands several punches but gets lazy and is reversed. Abelardo ends the fight, landing punches on top. 10-9 Abelardo as Dauev had minimal offense, but Dauev should take the decision as he did the most damage in the fight during Round 1.

265-Pound Kickboxing: Beybulat Isaev vs. Yuri Farcas

Round 1

Farcas uses a jab early well and lands a nice leg kick. Isaev is getting backed up in the exchanges. Thudding leg kick from Farcas, who then misses a roundhouse kick. Farcas is in control and lands a nice uppercut. Isaev gets backed into the corner and eats some punches. Nice kick to the body by Isaev. 10-9 Farcas.

Round 2

Isaev will need to do something about the pressure of Farcas. The round starts with Isaev landing a nice body kick, but he then eats a front kick. Farcas' leg kicks are landing nicely. Farcas is more aggressive and is able to land punches in combination. Isaev keeps getting backed up. Farcas misses a huge left hook. Isaev goes high with a head kick, but it is blocked. Nice check hook by Isaev. Spinning wheel kick to the body from Isaev. Farcas corners his foe, but he's having more trouble this round. Nice body work from Isaev, who clips Farcas with a right hand. Isaev finds his rhythm and ends the round with a nice combination and a left hook. 10-9 Isaev.

Round 3

Isaev works his jab and throws out a kick. Farcas is lumbering forward but is backed up with a spinning kick. Huge right hand lands for Isaev, who is able to back Farcas into the rope. This is the best Isaev has looked. Several body kicks for Isaev. Farcas looks overwhelmed and is hit by a spinning wheel kick to the head. Isaev is breaking his opponent and gets warned for clinching during an exchange. Farcas eats a body kick with less than a minute left. The round ends with Farcas failing to muster any significant offense as Isaev lands a spinning back fist. 10-9 Isaev, 29-28 Isaev.

265: Ji Won Kang vs. Mikhail Jamal Abdul-Latif

Round 1

Abdul-Latif and Kang are circling each other to start the fight. Abdul-Latif catches a kick and gets a takedown, which sees Kang get lifted into the air and slammed down. Abdul-Latif is in side control and transitions to taking Kang's back. Abdul-Latif is looking for a rear-naked choke, but Kang is defending well. The round ends with Abdul-Latif unable to find a submission. 10-9 Abdul-Latif.

Round 2

Abdul-Latif gets backed up by Kang, who then looks for a front headlock. Kang lands knees, but he gets too aggressive as Abdul-Latif lands a takedown. Abdul-Latif is in control while in half guard. Kang isn't trying to get up, and Abdul-Latif isn't doing much offense. Herb Dean threatens to stand the fight up. Kang is able to escape and lands a running knee! Abdul-Latif is hurt and Kang is throwing punches. He's unloading on the ground as Abdul-Latif covers up. The fight is over.

170-Pound Muay Thai: Liam Nolan vs. Ali Aliev

Round 1

Aliev and Nolan clinch several times to start the fight. Nolan is able to sneak in an elbow as Aliev tries to close the distance. Nice overhand right from Aliev counters a low kick. They clinch, and Aliev is able to land some knees. It's a feeling-out round, for sure. Nolan is thrown to the floor after catching a kick. Nolan catches a kick but misses a high kick of his own. They clinch again as the round ends. 10-9 Aliev.

Round 2

Aliev eats a leg kick to start the round but fires back with one of his own. Nice body kick from Nolan. Both men are still pretty hesitant to fire at full. A lot of clinching. Nolan is touching with light kicks but isn't committing. Aliev misses a body kick. Nice leg kick from Aliev, who follows it up with another. Nolan lands a body kick that is caught and then is thrown to the floor. Nolan lands a nice combination of punches right before the bell, which is enough to squeak out a close round. 10-9 Nolan.

Round 3

Aliev takes the center. Nolan lands a beautiful left hand that wobbles Aliev, who is clearly hurt. Nolan is putting on pressure and is throwing volleys of punches and elbows. Nolan is no longer hesitant to throw as he smells blood in the water. An overhand left for Nolan lands as Aliev goes for a spinning back fist. Aliev lands low on Nolan, but the fight is resumed. Nice jumping knee from Nolan, who is feeling quite confident. Aliev is still moving forward, but he walks into a spinning elbow. Less than a minute left. Nice hook lands for Nolan. Aliev is bleeding. The fight ends with Nolan continuing to walk down his opponent and in control. 10-9 Nolan, 29-28 Nolan.

145: Artem Belakh vs. Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu

Round 1

Baatarkhuu slips while kicking, and Belakh takes advantage by securing his opponent's back. Baatarkhuu gets back to his feet. Both men are hesitant. Belakh begins using his jab but gets hit by a short uppercut. Nice body kick by Belakh. The two exchange punches. Baatarkhuu clinches against the corner. They separate after a minute. Baatarkhuu charges forward with punches and is able to clinch again. It's a real stalemate, but Baatarkhuu lands a few punches as they exit, and the round ends. 10-9 Baatarkhuu.

Round 2

Belakh shoots for a takedown, but Baatarkhuu sprawls and denies it. Baatarkhuu then gets one of his own and is in full guard. Baatarkhuu is in control for over a minute but can't do much. Belakh is able to get up, but Baatarkhuu grabs his back. Belakh rolls out of it and lands a knee as they get to their feet. Baatarkhuu misses a spinning wheel kick. Nice jabs from Belakh. Baatarkhuu stings an over-aggressive Belakh and then clinches. They separate. Belakh catches Baatarkhuu with an uppercut and scores a jumping knee. Belakh unloads for punches, and Baatarkhuu is out on his feet. This is over!

170-Pound Muay Thai: Rungrawee Sitsongpeenong vs. Shakir Al-Tekreeti

Round 1

Sitsongpeenong comes out aggressive after Al-Tekreeti tries to find his range with some kicks. Sitsongpeenong lands leg kicks of his own. Al-Tekreeti misses a body kick and tries to go over the top with a right hand. Sitsongpeenong finds the head of his foe with a sharp left hand. Al-Tekreeti eats a body kick and then a left hand. A left hook to the body hurts Al-Tekreeti, who is forced to take a knee to recover. Sitsongpeenong capitalizes by firing off punches, but Al-Tekreeti is able to clinch and survive the round. 10-8 Sitsongpeenong.

Round 2

Sitsongpeenong and Al-Tekreeti trade punches to start the round. A left head kick from Sitsongpeenong sends his opponent to the floor. Al-Tekreeti gets up, and the fight continues. Sitsongpeenong is doing well and punishing Al-Tekreeti in the clinch. An elbow from Sitsongpeenong sits down Al-Tekreeti. After a knee is landed for good measure, the fight is called off.

145: Kwon Won Il vs. Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg

Round 1

Zoltsetseg is loose and lands an uppercut early, but Il immediately gets a takedown. Zoltsetseg quickly gets back to his feet. Il lands a nice hook to the body, then goes for a desperate takedown attempt that goes nowhere. Zoltsetseg eats a combination and is cornered. Il is landing well at a distance and then changes levels for a takedown. Il postures up and is landing heavy punches from top position. Zoltsetseg gets back to his feet. A left hook from Il hurts Zoltsetseg. Il goes to the body but has exhausted a lot of energy. Zoltsetseg loses his mouthpiece, and the fight is paused. It resumes, and the round ends with Il landing a takedown. 10-9 Il.

Round 2

Zoltsetseg eats a head kick immediately. Il is loose and landing punches. Il secures a takedown, but Zoltsetseg locks in a guillotine choke in guard. Zoltsetseg is going for it, but he can't keep the grip. Zoltsetseg eats a series of punches. Il lands a good elbow while postured up. Il advances to half guard and lands hammerfists. Big elbows from Il, who advances to mount position, and it proves to be too much for Zoltsetseg as it is waved off.

145-Pound Muay Thai: Suablack Tor Pran49 vs. Stefan Korodi

Round 1

Pran49 catches a kick from Korodi and fires off a right hand to the body. Pran49 is using his jab well, catching Korodi when he tries to close the distance. Korodi lands a good punch, but Pran49 clinches and regains control. Pran49 catches a kick and lands an elbow that hurts Korodi. They clinch with Pran49 in control. One minute left. Korodi lands some nice knees and goes for a head kick. Pran49 has damaged the nose of Korodi and controls the rest of the round. 10-9 Pran49

Round 2

Pran49 has a kick caught by Korodi but isn't punished. Korodi lands a nice body kick. Pran49 is dropped by a perfectly placed right hand from Korodi! Pran49 gets up but is being pressured. Korodi lands a nice body kick, he follows up with punches. A huge elbow knocks Korodi down! Korodi is good to continue. What a round. Pran49 catches a kick and punishes Korodi with an elbow that causes another knockdown. Pran49 is looking to end the fight and lands a big left hand that hurts Korodi. Pran49 keeps moving forward and lands a spinning back elbow. Korodi survives the round but not before Pran49 lands a huge right hand. 10-9 Pran49.

Round 3

A huge left hand lands for Pran49. Korodi is still hurt and hasn't fully recovered between rounds. Pran49 clinches and lands a nice knee to the body. Nice punches to the body from Pran49. Korodi lands a body kick of his own. Pran49 catches a kick and follows it up with a big punch plus an elbow. Pran49 throws a spinning wheel kick. An elbow lands for Pran49. One minute left. Korodi is composed and lands a nice body kick. Pran49 isn't pushing the pace but keeps ahead as the fight ends. 10-9 Pran49, who will take a decision.

155: Shamil Gasanov vs. Ho Taek Oh

Round 1

Gasanov lands a body kick to begin the fight. Oh answers back with a series of leg kicks. Gasanov dives in for a takedown. Oh gives up his back. Gasanov is looking for a rear-naked choke. Oh gets out of it and winds up on top. Gasanov gets back up and drags Oh down to the ground. Oh gets up and eats several knees to the head. Gasanov lands another knee. Oh is very hurt. Gasanov takes the back, but Oh slips out and gets a takedown of his own. Gasanov gets up but the two wind up back on the floor as Oh is taken down. Oh reverses positions and gets up. The two clinch and the round slows down a bit as it concludes. 10-9 Gasanov.

Round 2

Gasanov nearly ducks into a kick. A swinging left hook from Oh is ducked under, and Gasanov gets a takedown. Gasanov is once again targeting the back but can't get his hooks in. Gasanov locks in a face crank. Oh endures the pain, and Gasnov gives up on it. Oh eats a few punches. Gasanov rolls back and goes for a neck crank. The rear-naked choke is almost in, but Oh is able to turn and get out of it. Oh lands a nice knee to the head. Gasanov scrambles well and gets the back again. Oh turns and gets out of the position. Both men are standing and don't have a ton of energy. The two clinch against the ropes. Herb Dean warns both men to work. The round comes to an end. 10-9 Gasanov

Round 3

Gasanov goes for a takedown immediately. Oh stays upright as they are clinched against the corner. Gasanov gets Oh down and is once again on his opponent's back. Oh is trying to prevent a rear-naked choke attempt. Gasanov can't quite get in position. Three minutes left. Gasanov is landing solid punches. Oh gets up temporarily but is dragged back down. Oh seems exhausted. Gasanov is in side control and then takes the back again. Hooks are in for Gasanov, who is looking for a rear-naked choke. 90 seconds left. Oh starts to stand and gets up. Gasanov stays clinched against the ropes. Oh grabs the ropes to stay upright and receives a "hard warning." Gasanov gets Oh down and starts looking for an armbar. Oh gets out but is taken down again and eats some knees as the fight is over. 10-9 Gasanov, 30-27 Gasanov.
