Pedro Munhoz Believes Aljamain Sterling is 'Afraid' to Fight Him at UFC 238

Ultimate Fighting Championship bantamweight Pedro Munhoz is primed and ready to face the Aljamain Sterling on June 8 at UFC 238 in Chicago. Normally "cool" with his opponents, Munhoz confessed to The Score's James Lynch, that this time around he's been irked by Sterling's pre-fight behavior.

Specifically, Muhnoz is referring to a Sterling (17-3) tweet wherein the "Funk Master" openly requested that Munhoz be "properly" tested for their upcoming bout, reminding the world that Munhoz received a suspension in October 2014 for a positive exogenous testosterone result. Munhoz contends there was no legitimacy to the positive findings.

Furthermore, Munhoz (18-3, 1 NC) views Sterling's actions as a sign of fear. "For him bring to up something like that, for me it just shows one thing, you know, he's afraid to fight me, he's already creating excuses for the beating that he's gonna get," declared the fighter.

UFC 238 will be headlined by another bantamweight fight, this one a championship bout between Henry Cejudo and Marlon Moraes for the vacant title. Munhoz explains that despite receiving no formal notice from the UFC, and only discussing it with his manager, he is indeed prepared to go for five full rounds.

"That's the reason that every single time that I train I train for five rounds even though I'm fighting three rounds, you know, and I know he's gonna just be running and try to grapple me, avoiding the fight, because, you know, he's scared.

Being ready for two extra rounds won't be enough to make the 32-year-old eligible to step in should the need arise, Munhoz must also hit championship weight and he contends that he is ready on that front as well. "If something happens the week of the fight or something, you know, for me it's not a big issue making 135."

As far as predictions go, "The Young Punisher" has seen the future and knows that Sterling's arsenal will fall short in every aspect. "It's a bad fight for him, you know. He's gonna try to wrestle me, great, so I'm gonna take your head out. You're gonna do jiu-jitsu on me, great. You're gonna stand with me, you know, I'm gonna knock you out."
