Petr Yan Signs Six-Fight Deal With UFC

Russian fighter Petr Yan has signed a new deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, one that will keep him with the organization for a good while longer.

Bantamweight contender Yan (12-1) has signed a new six-fight deal with the UFC. Yan received this offer from UFC leadership immediately after his decision victory over John Dodson (20-11) in Prague. For Yan, this will be his third contract with the Las Vegas-based promotion, and each contract has included better conditions.

This new contract, unlike his previous ones, provides that Yan will have six fights, and it also provides potential incentives regarding a possible title fight as well as any defenses. It has been discussed that Yan's next fight take place at UFC 238 in Chicago this June, and he could face Jimmie Rivera (22-3). Nevertheless, the fighter representing Archangel Michael and Tiger Muay Thai is considering other opponents, stating: "This contract is the good job of my managers and Sean Shelby. I hope to fight in Chicago, but not the fact that it will be Rivera, maybe it will be someone else from the Top 5."
