Roberto Soldic Defends Welterweight Strap Against Marius Zaromskis at KSW 53

KSW has its co-main event for KSW 53 in March.

According to a press release from the promotion on Thursday, Roberto Soldic (17-3) will defend his welterweight title against Marius Zaromskis (21-9, 1 NC) at KSW 53. The event will go down on March 21 at the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland, and it will be headlined by a heavyweight tussle between Mariusz Pudzianowski and Quentin Domingos.

Heavy handed Croatian champ Soldic has won his last four bouts, including three by knockout. Two of his last three have come at catchweight instead of at the 170-pound division where he first won gold at KSW 41 in 2017. Dropping his belt to Dricus Du Plessis in his first defense at KSW 43, “Robocop” exacted revenge at KSW 45 to regain the throne. This will be the second time he has defended the belt in this reign, first dispatching the previously unbeaten Krystian Kaszubowski in under 90 seconds in May 2019. Fifteen of his 17 career victories have come by stoppage, including nine in the opening frame.

Twenty-year MMA vet Zaromskis returned from a four-year layoff after losing three of four in Bellator MMA from 2012 to 2015. In May 2019, he came back to knock out Aliaksandr Danilchenko in Lithuania in the first round. The former Dream champ has faced several greats in the sport over the years including Hayato Sakurai, Nick Diaz and Kazushi Sakuraba. The Lithuanian fighter known as “The Whitemare” also competed against Waachiim Spiritwolf three times, winning two, with the first ending by no-contest after an eye poke in the first six seconds.
