“I am so sorry [Mauricio Rua] and [UFC],” Alvey wrote. “I broke my hand and I need to pull out of my fight on Nov. 16. An accident in practice has taken me out. My plan and his plan don’t always align but his plan is always better.”
UFC Fight Night 164 takes place at Ibirapuera Gymnasium on Nov. 16 and is headlined by a light heavyweight scrap pitting Jan Blachowicz against Ronaldo Souza. It is unclear if Rua will remain on the card, although the Brazilian veteran is reportedly hoping to find a replacement opponent.
Alvey is currently on a three-bout skid, including a decision loss against Klidson Abreu in his most recent outing at UFC on ESPN 4.
