Scott Coker Tabs Bellator 146 for Josh Koscheck’s Debut, Reveals Other Matchups
Bellator
MMA President Scott Coker revealed many of his promotion’s
future lineup plans Thursday on John
Morgan’s MMA Road Show.
Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Josh Koscheck (17-10) will debut for the promotion on Dec. 11 at the SaveMart Center in Fresno, Calif., Coker told Morgan. In addition, 6-0 welterweight upstart Chris Honeycutt will also compete on the bill.
After losing his battle with the scale on May 15, and as a result,
his Bellator middleweight title, Brandon
Halsey (9-0) will get another chance to claim the belt he was
stripped of for missing weight against Kendall
Grove when he faces Rafael
Carvalho (11-1) at
Bellator 144 on Oct. 23 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville,
Conn., for the vacant 185-pound championship.
Finally, Coker also announced that there will be an alternate bout for the Bellator MMA & Glory “Dynamite” four-man light heavyweight tournament on Sept. 19 at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., as Francis Carmont (23-10) will confront Luiz Philipe Lins (9-1).
Should any of the scheduled participants -- Phil Davis, Muhammed Lawal, Emanuel Newton or Linton Vassell -- be unable to continue in the single-night tournament, the Carmont-Lins winner will step in as an alternate. The pairings for Sept. 19’s tourney are expected to be announced during Friday’s Bellator 141 live broadcast on Spike (9 p.m. ET).
