UFC 151 Update: Kyle Noke Cuts to Welterweight, Meets Charlie Brenneman in Las Vegas

Kyle Noke is expected to make the drop to welterweight to take on Charlie Brenneman at UFC 151.

Noke announced the news Tuesday via Facebook, and Sherdog.com subsequently confirmed the booking with an additional source close to the bout. UFC 151 takes place Sept. 1 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and will be headlined by a light heavyweight title collision between reigning champion Jon Jones and challenger Dan Henderson.

Noke, 32, has lost back-to-back fights heading into his clash with “The Spaniard,” submitting to Ed Herman just under one year ago before dropping a unanimous decision to newcomer Andrew Craig on March 3 at UFC on FX 2. Those setbacks halted a five-fight winning streak for the Aussie, who posted wins over Josh Bryant, Rob Kimmons and Chris Camozzi in his first three Octagon appearances.

One year younger than his upcoming foe, Brenneman enters the cage having lost two of his last three contests. Following wins over Amilcar Alves and Rick Story, the Pennsylvania native was knocked out by Anthony Johnson last October but rebounded from the defeat by taking a unanimous nod over Daniel Roberts in January. Brenneman last competed June 8 at UFC on FX 3, submitting to a rear-naked choke courtesy of Brazilian prospect Erick Silva.
