UFC 244 Medical Suspensions: Gregor Gillespie Gets 90 Days Following Brutal KO Loss

By Tristen Critchfield Nov 5, 2019

Gregor Gillespie was on the wrong end of a head-kick KO at UFC 244, and as a result, the former wrestling standout is one of six fighters to receive a potential 90-day medical suspension.

The New York State Athletic Commission on Tuesday released a full list of medical suspensions from Saturday’s event, which took place at Madison Square Garden. The NYSAC does not disclose the exact nature of each suspension. Every fighter on the card received a minimum seven-day term.

Gillespie was stopped in spectacular fashion by Kevin Lee 2:47 into the opening stanza of their featured lightweight affair at UFC 244. Gillespie must receive medical clearance before he can compete again. That also holds true for Lee, who was handed a 30-day suspension.

Five other fighters at UFC 244 received potential 90-day sits: Nate Diaz, Makwan Amirkhani, Brad Tavares, Andrei Arlovski and Chance Rencountre.
