UFC 271 Weigh-in Results: Title Fight Set; William Knight 12 Pounds Heavy

The Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight title will be on the line at UFC 271, as both Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker weighed 184 pounds for the highly-anticipated rematch.

While the headliners were professional, not every fighter on the then-15-fight card managed to come in at their contracted weight or even close to it. William Knight missed the light heavyweight limit by a whopping 12 pounds, he received a 40% fine of his purse and his bout against Maxim Grishin was shifted to heavyweight as a result. Additionally, Alex Perez came in two pounds heavy for his flyweight bout against Matt Schnell, and that fight has been canceled.

This is the fourth attempted title defense for Adesanya (21-1), who picked up the belt in 2019 by knocking out Whittaker (23-5). The only defeat on the record of "The Last Stylebender" comes from a light heavyweight bout against then-champion Jan Blachowicz, where Adesanya dropped a decision to the much larger fighter. The Nigerian martial artist bounced back with a dominant win over Marvin Vettori in June of last year.

Since losing the middleweight strap, Whittaker has bounced back with three impressive victories. "Bobby Knuckles" won decisions over Darren Till, Jared Cannonier and Kelvin Gastelum to earn another crack at Adesanya. The Australian has only lost once since June 2014.

UFC 271's main card will stream on ESPN+ pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. Early prelims start at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT on UFC Fight Pass and ESPN+, while additional preliminary bouts air on ESPN and ESPN+ at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
