Souza lands a nicely timed takedown and immediately founds herself caught in an omoplata. Souza circles out of danger, but Van Buren is able to scramble to her feet. She drives Souza to the fence and picks her opponent up. Wary of the guillotine, Van Buren gently sets her opponent down and works from full guard. Van Buren passes to half guard and lands some short left hands. Souza works her way up, but Van Buren maintains a body lock. Souza is getting frustrated, keeping her arms outstretched and looking at the referee. Van Buren releases her grip and tags Souza with a flurry of punches. Van Buren counters Souza with a clean one-two. Van Buren shoots for a single-leg takedown and gets it with less than 20 seconds to go. Souza looks to frame an armbar, but she runs out of time.

The action slows for a while until Martinez steps in with a left knee to the chest. Liu buckles Martinez with a right hand and swarms with punches and knees. Martinez recovers and he catches Liu with a flying knee. Another knee from Martinez against the fence in the waning seconds.

Martinez once again takes the center of the cage as Liu circles on the outside. Martinez lands a kick to the body. Tentative beginning to the round, much like the opening stanza. Regardless, Martinez is the one advancing. Liu blocks a high kick. Halfway through the frame, and Martinez finds a home for his jab. Martinez with a quick high kick that finds the range. Martinez follows a quick jab with a left high kick. Liu whips an outside leg kick, then dances around the outside. Liu blocks a high kick from Martinez. Martinez tries a knee again, but it doesn’t land clean. They trade as the horn sounds, but nothing significant lands.

Round 3

Liu is looking more aggressive to start this period, moving forward with combinations. Liu pressures forward with punches, than backs away. A left hand over the top connects for Martinez. Liu follows a right hand with a high kick, but it’s blocked. Liu lands a right hand to the body. Liu presses forward and lands a glancing straight right. Liu lands a kick under the armpit of Martinez. Boos are started to come from those in attendance in Sacramento, who have grown impatient with the lack of action. Almost on cue, Martinez puts Liu on his back with a knee that lands flush to the jaw. The Chinese fighter is already out, but Martinez dives in with one more shot for good measure before referee Josh Rosenthal dives in to wave off the bout.

Round 1

Elkins takes the center of the Octagon to start. Hall drops to his back in an attempt to lure Elkins into guard, but “The Damage” isn’t having it. Hall falls on a spinning kick. Elkins kicks the legs a couple times and makes Hall stand. Hall just misses on a spinning wheel kick. Elkins goes into guard and then has to escape a leg lock. Hall falls on another kick. Elkins stands and kicks the legs before backing away. Elkins lands a big left hand. Hall finds the range on a spinning kick to the gut. Elkins pressures forward but can’t find the range. Hall rolls to grab a leg but Elkins evades the attempt with ease. A spinning back kick to the face from Hall stunningly lands flush, and Elkins falls to his back. Hall jumps guard for a guillotine and applies the squeeze. In typical fashion, Elkins frees himself and the combatants stand. Hall follows a spinning back kick to the gut with a heel kick to the face. The round ends with Hall rolling for leg locks as Elkins defends.

Hall goes upstairs with a hook kick. Moments later, Hall rolls for a leg lock, but Elkins scrambles up. Elkins lands a right that makes Hall stumble back. Elkins drops a big standing-to-ground punch as Hall rolls for another leg lock. Elkins presses forward with a body kick. Hall slips a punch and buckles Elkins with a counter left hand. Elkins shakes it off. Hall rolls for the legs, and Elkins picks up the pressure with standing to ground offense. Hall finds Elkins’ chin with a punch, and “The Damage” stumbles around for a second. Hall rolls unsuccessfully and absorbs a couple leg kicks before being ordered to his feet. Hall follows a spinning back kick by rolling and just misses eating an Elkins knee. Hall catches Elkins with a stiff left and sits him down. Elkins recovers quickly and the round ends without further incident.

Round 3

Hall continues his approach of following a spinning kick with a roll for a leg lock, but Elkins evades with ease. Elkins pressures and lands a kick to the body. Hall falls on a hook kick, but Elkins misses a big right. They’re back up. Hall lands a glancing spinning hook kick then goes to the mat. Elkins backs off, allowing his foe to stand. Hall is on his bicycle and that draws some boos from the crowd. Hall kicks the body then trips Elkins down. They both return to their feet. Hall is back on the floor, and Elkins won’t oblige. Elkins is in pursuit, but Hall is content to circle out of danger. Hall controls the range with a variety of kicks then circles away as Elkins attempts to close the distance. The boo birds are out in force as time winds down.

Montano lands an elbow to the face, and then has to escape a triangle. Pena is cut near her right ear. Montano keeps the pressure on. Moraes finds the range on a left hook. A counter jab lands clean for Fili. Moraes gets through Fili’s guard with a right. Moraes with a right hand to the body. Fili absorbs a hard kick to the arm, but he stuns Moraes with a counter right hand-high kick combination in return. Moraes is dazed with his back to the fence, but Fili is staying patient, not rushing in against his opponent. Moments later, Moraes attempts to come off the cage and he’s swinging heavy punches. Fili counters with a perfectly-placed right hook to the jaw and Moraes goes down. Fili swarms with ground-and-pound and he puts Moraes away shortly thereafter.

Round 1

Rodriguez backs Arte up and lands a front kick and then a low kick. Another hard inside low kick lands for Rodriguez. Rodriguez eats a big punch from Arte and attacks with a front kick and a punching combination. The light heavyweight swing heavy punches in close quarters now. Rodriguez has Arte going back with a punching combination upstairs followed by a body kick. Now they’re engaged in the clinch, and Arte dumps Rodriguez to the mat from the body lock. Arte is working from half guard. Rodriguez leaves his neck exposed trying to return to his feet. Arte cranks the maneuver, standing in the process. Rodriguez lands a flying knee, but Arte immediately shoots and plants Rodriguez on the mat. Arte is in half guard with less than a minute to go. Ferreira is having his most success with low kicks. Another heavy low kick from Ferreira. Vettori catches the next kick and lands a takedown with about 1:00 to go. The Italian passes to full mount and lands some ground-and-pound. Ferreira regains guard with 20 seconds, but Vettori drops some elbows that appear to have cut the Brazilian at the end of the frame.

A right hook connects early, but Vettori counters with a shot of his own that makes the Brazilian stumble backward. Vettori times a level change and puts Ferreira on the mat. Ferreira attempts a level change and Vettori reverses his man and drives him into the fence. Not much action from the clinch as the round draws to a close. They’ll end in that position.

Neither man has landed much of note about halfway through the round. Emmett steps in with a right to the body. Bektic responds with a quick flurry to the body of Emmett. A leg kick lands for Bektic. A right from Emmett finds its way past Bektic’s guard. Emmett dodges a right hook and lands a right to the body. Emmett puts Bektic on his seat with a step-in jab. He follows his foe to the ground and unleashes with hammerfists as Bektic clings to a leg. Bektic is hanging on for dear life, but Emmett is relentless. He moves around to the back and with his foe turtled, tags Bektic with more punches to the side of the head, including one shot under the arm. Bektic has absorbed too much punishment isn’t defending himself anymore. Finally, Jason Herzog steps in to wave off the fight.

Urijah Faber vs. Ricky Simon

Round 1

Simon steps in with a left hook and then Faber lands a counter. Simon then backs up Faber with a counter left. Faber seems to have recovered from the blow. Simon pressures “The California Kid” against the fence and then gets dropped by an overhand right that lands flush. Faber follows his man to the mat as Simon tries desperately to regain his senses and recover guard. The former WEC champ smells blood, however, and the ground-and-pound shots accumulate until referee Mike Beltran steps in to save Simon. At 40 years old, Faber is once again victorious in the Octagon.

Germaine de Randamie vs. Aspen Ladd

Round 1

De Randamie flicks out a couple jabs early on. Ladd continues to pressure forward against the Dutch kickboxer. An overhand right cracks Ladd on the chin and she falls forward, catching herself on her forearms. There’s a momentary pause, but now Ladd is turning to her back, attempting to regain her senses as “The Iron Lady” moves in to land a follow-up punch on her downed opponent. In that same sequence, referee Herb Dean steps in to pull de Randamie off of Ladd, ending the fight. Ladd looks perplexed at the stoppage, but this one is over. De Randamie has tied Ronda Rousey for the fastest knockout in women’s bantamweight history.
