The Ultimate Fighting Championship has filed four trademarks for the “UFSEA” name, perhaps another sign that the highly-anticipated “Fight Island” is close to becoming a reality.

Trademark attorney Josh Gerben on Wednesday revealed the filings by Zuffa, LLC, which occurred on May 19. Gerben points out that the language in the new trademark filings for “UFSEA” is the same as the filings for “Fight Island” on April 13, including “arranging and conducting mixed martial arts competitions and events.”

In addition to events, the “UFSEA” trademark filings also include various types of merchandise, such as clothing, towels, posters and postcards.

The language from the Goods and Services portion of the filing is as follows:

Entertainment services, namely, arranging and conducting mixed martial arts competitions and events; arranging and conducting special events for social entertainment purposes; entertainment services, namely, providing non-downloadable audio and video recordings featuring sports and mixed martial arts via the Internet, television, cable and satellite; entertainment services, namely, a multimedia program series featuring sports and mixed martial arts distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; educational services, namely, instruction in the field of fitness and mixed martial arts; providing instructional programs and classes in the fields of fitness and mixed martial arts; sports training services; physical fitness training and conditioning services; and providing information relating to entertainment, sports, mixed martial arts, and sporting events.

It is not confirmed that “Fight Island” and “UFSEA” are related, despite the parallels in the trademark filings. However, both suggest an offshore venue for future UFC events. The promotion has yet to announce an official date for a “Fight Island” debut, although UFC flyweight Paige VanZant wrote “coming to an island near you” in her confirmation of a July 11 booking against Amanda Ribas.
