UFC Signs British Bantamweight Vaughan Lee for UFC 138 Debut
British bantamweight Vaughan Lee
has inked a deal with the
Ultimate Fighting Championship and will make his Octagon debut
at UFC
138 against an opponent to-be-named, the promotion announced
Wednesday.
UFC 138 goes down Nov. 5 at LG Arena in Birmingham, England, and will be broadcast in North America via same-day tape delay on Spike TV.
The UFC’s first visit to England in 2011 will be headlined by the promotion’s inaugural non-title five-round main event, a middleweight bout between Chris Leben and Mark Munoz.
Lee, who fights out of Birmingham’s Ultimate Training Centre, has 18 career scraps to his credit and has won four of his last five bouts. After kicking off 2010 with a victory over Steve McCombe, the Cage Rage veteran fought highly regarded Scot James Doolan to a draw in December.
This year has thus far seen Lee go 3-0, with all three bouts ending inside the first round. Lee’s latest effort netted him a first-round technical knockout of Marlon Jones on July 10, the first knockout of Lee’s career.
