Update: Illness Scratches Henry Cejudo from LFC 25 Co-Main Event

It appears the LFC 25 co-headliner was cursed from the start.

Legacy Fighting Championship promoter Mick Maynard informed Sherdog.com on Friday that co-headlining bantamweight Henry Cejudo has been forced to withdraw from tonight’s event due to a stomach flu.

Cejudo was originally booked to face fellow undefeated talent Elias Garcia, but “Smash” was forced to withdraw from the contest due to injury. Maynard then paired Cejudo with Humberto DeLeon, but the Strikeforce and Bellator alum was pulled from the booking yesterday after “struggling with negotiations on the weight for the bout,” according to the LFC release. Saul Elizondo was then tapped to fill in for DeLeon, but the logistical effort ultimately proved fruitless.

LFC 25 takes place tonight at Houston’s Arena Theatre and is headlined by a lightweight title showdown pitting Jorge Patino against Carlos Diego Ferreira. The evening’s main draw airs live on AXS TV.

A 2008 Olympic gold medalist in freestyle wrestling, Cejudo began his MMA career this past March and rattled off four finishes in his first three months as a pro. The 26-year-old most recently competed on Oct. 11, outpointing Ryan Hollis in his promotional debut at LFC 24.
