Abdoul Abdouraguimov Claims Another Title Shot, Submits Carl Booth at Brave CF 38

The Brave Combat Federation 38 headliner featured a welterweight clash between Abdoul Abdouraguimov (11-1) and Carl Booth (9-4) in Stockholm, Sweden, on Saturday.

Both main event protagonists have unfinished business with current Brave CF 170-pound kingpin Jarrah Hussein Al-Silawi, and both wanted another chance to face "The Jordanian Lion" in the cage. Eventually, it was "The Conqueror" Abdouraguimov who proved that he desired the title shot the most.

The French fighter displayed his notoriously relentless wrestling by landing a takedown as soon as the fight started. Once on the ground, he trapped "The Bomber" in a crucifix position, and only Booth's tenacity saved him from a quick defeat, as he swept his way out of the sticky situation. But it was only a matter of time before Abdouraguimov managed to get back in top position. Ultimately, he was able to secure a slick brabo choke at the 4:20 mark of the opening stanza to force Booth to tap out.

In the post-fight interview, Abdouraguimov called for his title shot, but he also stated that he wants to spend some time with his family after this fight.

The co-main event pitted the up-and-coming Benoit Saint Denis against European MMA vet Mario Saeed (13-5). Before the fight, the Frenchman vowed to bring war, and he kept his word by obliterating "Rudeboy" in the second stanza of their battle.

Both fighters displayed some real BJJ finesse in the first round, teasing each other and testing one another's grappling skills. In the second round, "God of War" landed a series of body kicks on Saeed, who absorbed the shots. A few moments later, Saint Denis dropped Saeed with a vicious knee. Even though "Rudeboy" somehow survived those huge shots, he collapsed on the mat after his opponent landed some relentless combinations. The referee called the stop to the contest at the 1:49 mark of the second round.

In other action: young Albanian prospect Bernardo Sopaj (8-1) dominated Tariq Ismail (6-1), taking home a unanimous decision victory at bantamweight; Issa Isakov (8-2) edged Djamil Chan (15-8) via decision in a 165-pound catchweight clash; Elin Oberg upset Malin Hermansson (5-2) via split decision in the flyweight division; David Jacobsson (7-2) handed Dilmurod Movlonov (2-1) the first defeat on his record by split decision; Robert Nystrom (5-5) rendered Joakim Jankovic (1-1) unconscious via guillotine choke at the 4:46 mark of the opening stanza; Jonny Touma (1-0) overcame Moheb Azizi (0-1) via decision in a 135-pound clash and P.K. Zadeh (3-0) defeated MMA debutant Wasiu Idowu (0-1) via unanimous decision.
