After Frustrating Postponement, Marvin Vettori Wants to Hurt Andrew Sanchez at UFC Tampa

Marvin Vettori was set to fight Andrew Sanchez on short notice at UFC Fight Night 158 in Vancouver on Sept. 14 However, Sanchez had to pull out with an injury on fight week, which was frustrating for the Italian.

The fight was rescheduled for UFC Fight Night 161 in Tampa, Fla., and Vettori hopes his opponent will show up this time around.

“I was very disappointed, I was pissed off because all my people were in Vancouver for the fight. Some flew out from Italy, a lot of them from Italy,” Vettori said to Sherdog.com. “Obviously, I was ready to fight, and I had my birthday to celebrate and wanted to go see my family and friends in Italy after the fight. I took that day and didn’t talk to anybody and reset a day after. It was a quick turnaround for me. But, man, let’s hope he shows up because he didn’t want to fight me to begin with. He better show up.”

Although he is not underestimating Sanchez, he believes he has the skill set to finish his opponent.

“He is not on my level, he will get knocked out. I’m not overlooking him, or taking him easy. He is still in the UFC. I’m not taking him lightly, but I know he is not the best fighter, that is what I think and truly believe,” Vettori said. “At the same time, it is a fight and anything can happen. “But I can beat him everywhere and I think I can finish this fight and want to hurt him.”
