Brendan Loughnane’s PFL Debut Set for Oct. 11 in Las Vegas

Brendan Loughnane will fight for the first time since being shunned by Dana White on the Contender Series earlier this summer when he makes his Professional Fighters League debut against Matt Wagy on Oct. 11.

Loughnane appeared to be deserving of a UFC contract based on a solid performance against Bill Algeo on June 18, but his decision to shoot for a takedown with seconds remaining in the fight prompted White to balk at giving him a deal. Loughnane’s upcoming PFL bout in Las Vegas will be part of the organization’s “New Fighter Showcase” series, but the Englishman is expected to take part in next season’s tournament. The promotion confirmed Loughnane’s debut following a report from ESPN.

Loughnane enters his PFL debut on a three-fight winning streak and is 17-3 as a pro overall. He has competed for promotions such as ACB, BAMMA and previously had one-fight stint in the UFC, where he lost to Mike Wilkinson in December 2012.

Wagy, will also be making his PFL debut after recently competing in Titan FC and Bellator. The 27-year-old is 12-5 as a pro and coming off of a decision win over Edir Terry at Titan FC 54 earlier this year.
