An injury has forced Beneil Dariush to withdraw from a proposed lightweight matchup with Mairbek Taisumov at UFC Fight Night "Dillashaw vs. Cruz."
As a result, Chris Wade will take Dariush’s spot on the Jan. 17 card. A promotion official confirmed the new pairing Thursday following an initial report from Newsday. UFC Fight Night takes place at the TD Garden in Boston and is headlined by a 135-pound title tilt between T.J. Dillashaw and Dominick Cruz.
A native of Long Island, N.Y., the 28-year-old Wade enters the contest on a five-fight winning streak, including three triumphs in UFC competition. Most recently, Wade took a unanimous decision over Christos Giagos at UFC Fight Night “Boetsch vs. Henderson” on June 6.
Taisumov has finished his last three Octagon foes by knockout or technical knockout. The 27-year-old Russian is 24-5 as a professional, with 22 victories inside the distance.
