There is life yet in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s flyweight division, with the promotion scheduling Joseph Benavidez a fight two days after cancelling his previous matchup.

The second-winningest flyweight in company history, Benavidez was pulled from a booking against Ray Borg at UFC Fight Night 139 when Borg suffered a medical issue and was forced to withdraw. The two-time UFC flyweight title challenger as well as World Extreme Cagefighting bantamweight title challenger recently had a six-fight win streak snapped when he suffered a split-decision loss to Sergio Pettis in his last appearance.
His opponent, Perez, has rattled off three wins, including two stoppages since joining the UFC, most recently knocking out Jose Torres in the first round at UFC 227 this past August. Signed to the UFC after putting Kevin Gray to sleep with an anaconda choke on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Season 1, Episode 5, the former Tachi Palace Fights bantamweight champion is riding an eight-fight win streak spanning back to 2016.
The “TUF 28” Finale will take place at the Pearl Theatre at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas on Nov. 30. Headlining the card will be a pivotal welterweight tilt between Rafael dos Anjos and Kamaru Usman, and it will also hold the Season 28 heavyweight and women’s featherweight finals.
