Titan FC 35 Weigh-in Results: Pat Healy Misses Badly, Stripped of Lightweight Title

By Mike Sloan Sep 18, 2015
Titan Fighting Championships will bring its 35th event to the masses Saturday night courtesy of the UFC’s popular Fight Pass online service. With three titles on the line, it promises to be the promotion’s best card, possibly ever.

But if Friday’s weigh-ins were any indication of things to come, the event might be marred in controversy and disappointment as many of the show’s combatants struggled to make weight, including Pat Healy, who lost his lightweight crown on the scale.

Healy, who is headlining the card, was off by a whopping three pounds. He came in at a massive 158 pounds and he had two hours to lose the excess poundage or else he’d be stripped of his title. His challenger, Rick Hawn, was perfectly on target as he came in right on the money at 155. Healy was never able to make the lightweight limit and was stripped. Hawn can win the title if he topples Healy, but if Pat is victorious, the title will remain vacant.

Featherweight champion Andre Harrison had no trouble at all making weight as he tipped the scale at 143.5 pounds. His opponent, though, was initially heavy. Desmond Green clocked in a t 145.5 pounds and had two hours to lose the extra weight or else the co-main event would be a non-title affair. Thankfully for Green, he was able to shed the additional baggage on his second attempt.

Thankfully flyweight champ Tim Elliott and challenger Felipe Efrain made the cut. Elliott weighed 125 pounds while Efrain was a half pound lighter, making their fight official.

Many of the event’s fighters had to strip down and weigh in behind a towel, unfortunately, leaving many to question whether the scale was accurate. Zane Kamaka, E.J. Brooks and Alex Soto all were too heavy for their weight class and, like the others, had two hours to shed the poundage.

Titan FC 35 will take place inside the Clark County Fairgrounds Event Center in Ridgefield, Wash. It will be streamed live on Fight Pass starting at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
