Baeza vs. Reyna

Miguel Baeza vs. Victor Reyna

Baeza enters the Octagon with a perfect 6-0 professional record. The Florida-based fighter is a well-rounded, powerful striker who works behind a basic 1-2 combination. His right hand is accurate and has dropped several opponents in the past. He stops most of his adversaries’ attacks by hiding behind his hands and elbows instead of using head movement. This could lead to his getting clipped by a seasoned striker. The MMA Masters standout likes to uncork kicks to the legs and body to drain the energy of his opponent. “Caramel Thunder” is a strong wrestler and has proven adept at getting takedowns from both the clinch and from distance. Once the fight hits the canvas, the undefeated fighter looks to hold position to strike before looking to lock on a submission.

Reyna took the call to replace Ramiz Brahimaj on about a week’s notice. The 32-year-old fighter sports a 10-3 record and is a veteran of Combate Americas. “Kelevra” is a southpaw striker who looks to overwhelm his opponents with a high pace. The Texan rushes in firing punches and hard kicks to close the distance. Once in close quarters, Reyna does his best work. He loves to grab the back of the head and fire off some dirty boxing strikes or simply wear out his opponent through pummeling in the clinch. He will drop down for a takedown but is an average wrestler at best.

Despite both men being veterans of the sport, there is not much film available on either of them. Baeza looks like the much better athlete. Reyna not getting a full camp for the fight gives even more reason to lean towards “Caramel Thunder.” Baeza wins by second-round knockout, though it could go either way.
