UFC 162 Salaries: New Champ Chris Weidman Banks $48K, Anderson Silva Pockets $600K
There may have been a changing of the guard at UFC 162 this past Saturday, but Chris Weidman still has a ways to go before he can match Anderson Silva’s bank account.
According to salary figures released by the Nevada Athletic Commission on Monday, Weidman earned $48,000 for his knockout victory over Silva at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, while “The Spider” took home $600,000 in suffering the first loss of his 17-bout UFC tenure. After a competitive first round, the Serra-Longo Fight Team member took advantage of Silva’s clowning antics in the second frame, dropping the Brazilian with a left hook and finishing the fight with follow-up punches 1:18 into the period.
